If you’re a gardener you know how wonderful a potting table can be for your garden and your time spend tending to your beautiful outdoor area. If you find yourself having to hunt down your gardening tools or materials every time you want to work in your garden then you might want to think about buying a potting table or making one. If you choose to make one here are ten simple and easy steps to building your own potting table. The items and tools you will need for your new potting table are: (3) 15 cm terracotta pots (3) 30mm bolts with nuts (3) 25mm washers Paint any color you choose 4×1 timber cut into these sizes: (13) 1m lengths (11) 60 cm lengths (4) 90cm lengths (2) 32 cm lengths 2×1 timber cut into these lengths (2) 25 cm lengths (4) 4cm blocks or square shaped You will also need these tools: Electric drill Electric screwdriver Builder’s square Pencils Measuring Tape Paint Brush Now that you have all your tools follow these simple directions to building your own potting table. Step 1: Always build from the bottom up so start with the bottom shelf first. Take (2) of the 1m lengths and (8) of the 60cm lengths to construct the bottom shelf of your potting table. Drill two holes in each end of the 60 cm lengths to be able to easily insert screws. Step 2: Place the (2) lengths of 1m wood long ways and upright so you can lay the (8) lengths of 60cm across them. Separate the (8) lengths evenly and screw them into the 1m lengths to form a square. Step 3: Measure and mark each corner of your newly made square from the bottom about 20cm in. This will be used as a guide so you know where to attach the table legs. Step 4: Attach the 90cm legs securely to the first shelf you build in an upright position. These are the legs of your potting table. Step 5: Take (7) of the 1m lengths and screw those to the top of your table to form your potting table top. Then add another 1m length to the front of your table to hang down over the legs. Step 6: To give your potting table added strength turn the table over and screw in on of the 1m lengths on the under side of the table. Step 7: To build the top portion of your potting table you will need to secure the 32cm length of wood by screwing it into the back portion of your table so it forms a shelf about your table base. Attach the remaining (2) 1m lengths to finish off the back. Step 8: Drill three holes into the newly made shelf that are far apart enough to place the (3) terracotta pots side by side with a little space in between them. Thread each newly drilled hole with one of the screws. Place a pot over each one and secure it with a nut from the inside of the pot. Step 9: Now you can build the handles out of the 25cm lengths and firmly attach one on either side of the table. Step 10: You are now ready to paint your table and then add it to your beautiful garden to enjoy.
